Hey guy, so I've been taking part in the Redrawing Black History project by Lisa Rogers (Make Art That Sells course). [which is free]
I'm not going to be writing about all the illustrations i've done so far for this but I will include them below.
The next illustration I worked on was Edmonia Lewis, as you could imagine I was very inspired by Edmonia as like me she's an artist. She was a sculptor born in 1844. Her sculptures made from marble are so gorgeous. Learning about her story and struggles, I found her strength so inspiring!
I started with a sketch in my sketch book as I find my drawings are more free if its on paper to begin with.
Then I take a photo of this (this is how I get some fun angles depending on the piece)
Then I draw a finalised outline over the top of this original sketch in Procreate or Photoshop.
If you would like to see the process video of this illustration go to my Tiktok page @ginashorddraws as there I have the time lapse from start to finish.
This is the final illustration I didn't plan my colours for this piece as I usually do, instead I just enjoyed the experiment.
Thank you for taking the time to read this, I hope it has been helpful to you in some way and if you know someone who might enjoy it too: please share it forward. ✌️
